These words introduce a noun with words like a/an, the, this, every, those, many, etc. | |
These are placed before the noun so that it is clear what the noun refers to. | |
For example: | |
'People' just means a group of human beings, but 'these people' indicates the people referred to in the phrase/clause and hence, 'these' is used as a determiner here. | |
